What is
Bronchitis
Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchial tubes — the airways leading to the lungs — most commonly
caused by a viral infection following a cold or upper respiratory illness. Symptoms include a persistent cough with or without mucus, chest tightness or soreness, mild fever, fatigue, and shortness of breath or wheezing. Most cases are viral and resolve with rest, hydration, and supportive care. Antibiotics are only prescribed when a bacterial cause is identified.
