What is
Jock Itch
Jock itch is a common fungal skin infection of the groin, inner thighs, and buttocks caused by the same fungus responsible for athlete's foot and ringworm, typically worsened by sweating and tight clothing. Symptoms include a red ring-shaped rash, intense itching and burning, and flaking or peeling skin in the affected area. Treatment requires antifungal cream, spray, or oral medication — antibiotics and steroid
creams alone will not treat jock itch and can worsen the infection. Without treatment, the rash will persist, spread, and may develop secondary bacterial infections from scratching. Red flags requiring in-person care include open sores, pus or drainage, spreading redness, and fever.
